Biography

Sam has a general corporate practice with primary emphasis in municipal law, public finance, real estate, estate planning and historic tax credits. He is a member of the Birmingham Bar Association and the Alabama State Bar (Taxation Section), National Association of Bond Lawyers and the American College of Mortgage Attorneys.

While in law school, Sam was a member of the Board of Editors of the Alabama Law Review from 1972 to 1974. At Washington & Lee he was Captain of the Debate Team and a Lee Scholar. He served in the United States Army obtaining the rank of Captain in 1970.

Community

Sam is the Alabama Advisor to the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Chairman of the Design Review Committee of the City of Birmingham, Chairman of the Birmingham Historical Commission, President of the Forest Park-South Avondale Neighborhood Association, a former member of the Department of Architecture of the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama and a member of the Board of Directors of the Alabama Trust for Historic Preservation.
